Les Amours Imaginaires

In the middle of the project lesson on Thursday, when I suddenly caught, everyone in my life in love mode and I said I could continue writing. You'll see everyone goes through the same stages. I can not understand the opposite side of which I am not at the stage, but in these cases, the "Bang Bang", as Dalida sang, starts mumbling in my head. Why? Seeing that it's my favorite Dolan film, Les Amours Imaginaires, that Xavier Dolan tells us for all of us.

In order to fall in love with someone, first of all you need to encounter that person first. Here we do not talk about falling in love, the important thing is that you fall in love with yourself, because in general, when everything is imaginary, the other side does not have much influence. In our film, this starts first when Francis, Xavier Dolan, and Marie, who is the best friend of Francis saw Nicolas at a party. In a short period of time, they become a group of three friends, even though everything is not explicitly spoken. Yet, they go through similar stages and fall in love with Nicolas. I don't know if I'm doing an expression disorder here, but you understand me, yes.

The preparation scenes before going on a date are full of French style. Our song "Bang Bang" continues in slow motion. Squeezing perfumes, clothes selection, going to the meeting point step by step and the current encounter and the later happens. This stage includes the second line of excitement that we have created for ourselves. In this preparation stage, we've got a picture of James Dean, which is one of my favorite scenes in the film, extending James Dean's photo and making a look at his hairdresser again. We also love the style of James Dean, and this is my suggestion for the opposite sex.

We are in the third stage, and it can no longer be said to be very enjoyable. Two close friends fell in love with the same person and they are in atttempts to be closer to the third person. It's like when Nicolas learned to be a fan of Audrey Hepburn and used it against him. The level of jealousy is rising, and now three of them cannot become friends. The further step is going towards more stressful stages, there is the moment of opening.

Love me or leave me!

The order of these stages is confusing, but also a little tied to the opposite side. The love they feel is now in pain with these two friends and they are in the beginning of forgetting, they are even not talking to each other anymore. During the film, we also occasionally listen to other people talking about their previous relationships. Abandoned ones and people who are trying to forget... Although the message that is expected from the person that we love is similar to that of the people who had excitement and than pain; or partners, who start living in the same house after a long distance relationship do not enjoy the relationship anymore when they started .

I love you. I want to kiss you. I don't know why I'm telling you this.

Now we're in the film's favorite scene, and in a way we're in love with our movie. A year later, in a different place, our characters meet again like the first time, and the reaction of Nicolas to Francis is just screaming. This scene is the most effective scene that I have not forgotten. Later, Louis Garrel has a surprise for us again and we hear Bang Bang at the back, returning to the beginning of these stages.

The concept of love, that we all want, and that life gives it almost follows these stages, we do not understand the other side in a way and we know the end to a large extent, but the cycle continues if we want it to continue, yes.

A great majority knows Xavier Dolan with "J’ai tué ma mère", I Killed My Mother, which is my first film that I watched in Xavier Dolan's cinematography. Today, almost every film of the youngest directors who do not return to Cannes. At the Cannes Film Festival in 2014, when Xavier Dolan and Jean-Luc Godard shared the jury's special award, while Godard was thanking and passing aside, Xavier Dolan was crying and hugging Jane Campion.
